Our groku green values
7 values, 1 strategy

Resource-Conscious by Principle

Our groku green values define how we think and act. They form the basis of our holistic sustainability strategy and provide the framework for material-efficient packaging solutions and closed-loop systems.

Our groku green values are:

Conservation of resources

Material-efficient and resource-conserving in development and manufacturing.

Conservation of resources

The resources available to us are not infinite. However, our efforts to find ways to optimize them are.

In order to save emissions and resources, we are continuously working on optimizing the weight of our packaging buckets.

For our recycled material lines, we process only externally certified secondary raw materials (e.g., in accordance with REDcert² / EN 15343), rely on innovative technologies, and use electricity from renewable energy sources at our production site.

Product design

Made for recycling.

Product design

For us, sustainability begins with the design of our products. Our motto right from the start is: “Design for recycling”.

Most of our plastic buckets are made of pure mono-material, regardless of the ratio of virgin material to recycled material. There are no limits to branding and color variety.

We work with various recycling companies to ensure that all products can be ideally returned to the recycling cycle. The recyclability of our buckets has been independently rated as “good” to “very good”.

Visibility

Traceable and certified.

Visibility

Our plastic buckets made from post-consumer recyclate (PCR) have been proving their worth for years and have already been produced more than 30 million times.

In the non-food sector, the blend ratio of PCR and virgin material can be flexibly adjusted to meet technical requirements—while maintaining consistently high dimensional stability and functionality.

The REDcert² system verifies the complete traceability of the recycled material used in our end products. Upon customer request, we transparently calculate the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of our containers in accordance with ISO 14067, based on actual material and production data.

Initiatives

Taking responsibility together.

Initiatives

To continuously improve our carbon footprint, we rely on specific measures that we regularly review and develop further.

We are guided by the goals of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to ensure that our climate targets are scientifically sound and ambitious.

Our common goal is clearly defined: a CO₂ reduction of at least 40% by 2030.

Close circuit

Reused and reused.

Close circuit

Our packaging buckets are designed so that they can be used several times. Many of our robust and resealable buckets are used for gardening or DIY work after their first use.

Completely empty containers from the consumer sector can be recycled via the yellow bag or yellow bin. For industrial containers, we support industry-standard take-back systems.

Awareness

Raising awareness in an honest and engaging way.

Awareness

Awareness of sustainability is stronger than ever. With our extensive experience in the use of recycled materials, our honest sustainability promise and the greatest possible transparency, we are making a real contribution.

We want to inspire others with our zest for action. In personal cooperation with our partners, we find individual solutions – in consulting and concrete implementation.

Human

From the individual to togetherness.

Human

Sustainability starts with each individual. Individual behavior in terms of consumption, energy consumption and recycling has a major impact on our planet.

By working together as equals, supporting each other and sharing knowledge unselfishly, we can put sustainability into practice together.

We have created the framework conditions for this at our locations. Together, we pursue the same goals, because ethical and social responsibility is our top priority.

They define: how we produce.

We design our production and our packaging buckets to be as energy- and resource-efficient as possible.

They define: how transparent we are.

We disclose how sustainable our processes and materials are and make recyclability measurable.

They define: how we work together.

We promote cooperation at eye level and want to inspire others to follow our path.

Seals and partnerships

Together and reliably for more sustainability.

In collaboration with ClimatePartner, groku tracks its corporate carbon footprint (CCF) to implement targeted reduction measures throughout the value chain.

BRCGS Packaging Materials: Certification under the internationally recognized BRCGS standard demonstrates our full compliance with the most stringent hygiene and quality management systems in the production of our food packaging.

“Made for Recycling” Certification (Interzero): Interzero’s official seal of approval confirms the high recyclability of our monomaterial containers based on standardized criteria and promotes a transparent circular economy.

Through the ISO 50001 energy management system, groku optimizes energy consumption in production, reduces emissions, and continuously improves energy efficiency at its facility.

The REDcert² seal guarantees the use of traceable recycled material in our products.

The Ecovadis Bronze rating recognizes groku’s commitment to social, ethical and environmental responsibility and encourages continuous improvement in the area of sustainability.

Through its membership of SEDEX, groku is committed to high social and environmental standards along the supply chain, promotes fair working conditions and strengthens sustainable business practices.

Our mission

We aim to package and protect products using buckets that are material-efficient and optimized for recycling.
